Northwire Announces
New Cable Program

Northwire's 130,000 square foot manufacturing facility.

Since 1972 Northwire, Inc., Osceola, Wisconsin has grown into a major
specialty manufacturer of electrical wire and cable. According to Linc
Duncanson, Chief Operating Officer, "New cable design normally starts
with a special and often proprietary customer need. Often these cables
must be designed to meet high performance standards, meet stringent
approval ratings and perform in tough environments." While Northwire
has reduced the design/test/manufacture cycle to a minimum, there remains
a significant market need…the instant availability of high performance
wire and cable. This need is the result of ever increasing competition
among users of electrical wire and cable and their need to shorten the
time frame for their new product development process.

Northwire is meeting this need with a new program called NorthwireDirect,
a service which enables users to order high quality, standardized, flexible
electrical cable directly from Northwire stock. These products are
premium grade, competitively priced and ready to ship. They meet
or exceed approvals for 60°C and 105°C SJT, SJTW, SJTO and
SJTOW. Endroflex™ super premium SJEOW (-50°C to +105°C) is
included.

The program is off to a good start. "We are getting good response from
old and new customers," said National Sales Manager, Ted Beach. "For
one thing," added Beach, "we recently built a new plant and have already
added onto it. With a 130,000 square foot facility we have plenty of room
to store cable and ship instantly."

harsh environments.

One primary reason for both Northwire's growth, and for their ability
to respond to customer needs with programs like NorthwireDirect, is
their dedication to customer service. In this day and age of computers
and voice mail, customers are pleased to discover a real person on the
other end of the phone line when they call. Northwire's objective is to
build long term relationships through concentrated attention to customer
service programs that help meet mutual expectations.

communication with customers, and quality from design through delivery.

For example:

• Northwire's programs aim at reducing the risk of designing products
that do not completely meet customer needs.

• Their system involves the customer in the decision making process
regarding price, reliability and delivery.

• Their planning process keeps the customer informed of changing
market and product needs; recognizes priorities for different products;
and reserves capacity for key customers.

• Northwire systems link customer satisfaction with Northwire success
through the implementation of procedures that can be measured and
benchmarked.

• Customer needs are promoted within Northwire through a process that
informs Northwire personnel about what the customer considers to be
important; training to meet specific customer needs; a coaching process
that links customer satisfaction to Northwire employee performance;
and a reward and recognition process that frequently and visibly
recognizes excellent customer service among Northwire employees.

As customer cable requirements have grown, so have Northwire's product
offerings grown to fill those needs. Northwire offers UL/CSA and
custom-designed cables, and standardized cables in PVC, Polyurethane,
fluoropolymers, TPE's, and proprietary blends in a variety of strandings
