More Solutions for More Customers
By Rob Boyd Crimping Product Manager
Schleuniger excels in providing solutions for almost every wire processing application including discrete wire, multi-conductor, coaxial and fiber optic
cable. Its product line ranges from compact, semi-automatic stripping machines to fully integrated wire feed, mark, cut, strip, coil and tie systems.
Recently, Schleuniger expanded its vast product offering by introducing several crimping products to the mix.
Benchtop Tools and Machines for Loose Terminal Crimping
In 1996, Schleuniger introduced the CT series crimping line ranging from hand-held crimping tools to a 4.2-ton pneumatic, bench-top unit. The CT 10,
CT 12 and CT 20 are hand-held crimping tools. The CT 20 is a pneumatic unit for added crimping power for heavier jobs or reduced stress on the operator.
The bench-top units are models CT 25, CT 32 and CT 42 each having 2.5, 3.2 and 4.2 tons of crimping power respectively.
All CT series machines can use interchangeable die sets for coaxial cable crimping applications or red, yellow, and blue closed barrel crimping applications.
The CT 32 can be fitted with die adapter kits to accept the most common crimping die sets from manufacturers such as Panduit, Daniels, AMP and Ideal, to name a
few. The CT 42 also uses its own dies designed for indent crimping up to 3/0 cable. The simple, proven design of the CT series ensures a fantastic investment into your
wire processing departments.

Benchtop Semi-automatic Termination
To expand on the line of bench-top crimping machines, Schleuniger
acquired Kirsten AG in November of 2000. Kirsten has been manufacturing Stripper/Crimpers for over thirty years and is known in the industry for its
high quality, user-friendly machines. A Stripper/Crimper combines the stripping and crimping process into one machine operation, thus eliminating
the need for benchtop strippers. It also offers automatic terminal loading from a spool.
Customers have been using the tried-and-true model PP3 for over 30 years and is still very popular for small gauge applications. The PP3 is completely
pneumatic and is capable of processing wires from 36 to 16 AWG.

Model PP3
Its newest model - K750 ASC has taken Stripper/Crimpers to a new level. The K750 ASC is the only fully programmable Stripper/Crimper on the
market. Three separate stepper motors control the stripping mechanism therefore, the stripping functions can be programmed and stored. The K750
ASC will also accept standard mini-style applicators so there is no need to o rder additional applicators.

Fully Programmable K750 ASC Stripper/Crimper
Job set-up has never been easier! Simply program strip length, strip position and wire size through the front panel. The K750 is the only machine with
programmable wayback and wire trimming features. Both features are especially helpful for small gauge applications.
Wayback is a feature that is offered on almost all automatic wire cutting and stripping machines — yet has not been implemented on any stripper/
crimper machines until now. Basically, the blades will back away from the conductor after cutting the insulation and prior to stripping the slug off. It
enables a deeper cut while avoiding any scraping of the conductor when the slug is being pulled off. The results are cleaner strips and a longer blade life.
Often times when an operator attempts to straighten the wire, the insulation gets stretched beyond the end of the conductor. With conventional machines,
this situation would cause an incorrect strip length and wire position. The wire sensor would not realize the incorrect strip length so there is no way to
compensate for the discrepancy. The K750 ASC does compensate for the discrepancy with its programmable trimming feature. It will cut the wire end
at a known position thus ensuring that both the strip length and the wire position are correct and consistent.
Once all of the parameters are set, the K750 ASC can store up to 200 jobs in memory. An optional PC kit is also available — up to 15,000 jobs can
be saved and groups of up to 200 jobs can be downloaded to the machine from the PC.
The K750 ASC is available in three versions. The first is the standard machine that comes with all of the features just listed. The K750 ASCi
has an integrated crimp force monitoring system added to the ASC. The third version is the K750 ASCic. It's the ASCi version with an integrated
"bad terminal cut-off". If a bad crimp is detected by the crimp monitor, the crimp is automatically cut off to ensure that it is not mixed in with the good crimps.

Precisely stripped and crimped discrete wires.
Fully Automatic Termination
For wire harness manufacturers that process high volumes of single conductor leads, Schleuniger is proud to introduce its NEW CrimpCenter
12 Automatic Cut, Strip, Terminate Machine. The CrimpCenter 12 is an economical alternative for basic cut, strip and terminate applications for
wires ranging from 26-10 AWG. The machine will process both open and closed barrel terminals as well as vertical doubling applications.

New Economical CrimpCenter 12 Cut, Strip, Terminate Machine
The CrimpCenter 12 uses three stepper motors to control the wire feed, cutting blades and wire position over the terminal. Wire length can range
from 1.97 inches (50 mm) to over 320 feet (99,999 mm). An optional kit can be purchased for wire lengths as low as 1.70 inches (43mm).
The simple LCD display enables the operator to easily program the required settings such as wire length, strip length and wire size. Processing
speeds can be adjusted and optimized as necessary. Once all of the settings are determined, the job can be saved in memory. Up to 200 jobs can be stored
in memory, while an optional PC kit is available for additional memory storage.
The CrimpCenter 12 comes standard with two 3.5 ton presses that will accept most mini-style applicators. Press cycle speed can be adjusted by its own
LCD control panel. Other standard equipment includes a length encoder for added length accuracy and a wire run-out detector. Available options include
doubling kits, closed barrel kits, and crimp force monitors. Additional options such as terminal paper tape winders, terminal carrier strip cutters and terminal
run-out detectors are also available. Furthermore, the CrimpCenter 12 can easily interface with accessories such as hot stamp and inkjet wire markers as well as wire prefeeding systems.
In addition, all Schleuniger products are backed by a comprehensive technical service organization that includes 5 technical service centers as well as on-site field service.
